Passport fair at Copernicus Center

The copernicus Foundation and the U.S. Postal Service will sponsor a passport fair from 8am to 4pm Saturday, June 17, in the theater at the Copernicus Cultural and Civic Center, 5216 W. Lawrence Ave. The purpose of the event is to allow individuals to obtain a passport. Applicants must appear in person, and those under age 14 must be accopmanied by both parents. Applicants must provide proof of citizenship, with either an original birth certifcate of naturalization papers, a marriage certificate or court order if name has been changed, and two 2-by-2-inch photos which can be purchased at the site. Those who have a passport must surrender it. Fees are $97 for those age 17 and older and $87 for those under age 17, plus $15 for two photos, $60 for an expedited service fee, $14.40 each way for an express mail fee and $67 for a renewal fee. Payment can be by cash, money order or personal check.
